Extra Wide Pet GateAn extra wide pet gate can be very useful if you want to prevent your
pet from wandering off into potential risk zones in your absence, creating nuisance when you are preoccupied with
some urgent work, or littering your house.
Available in different sizes, types, and colors, these gates can fulfill all these objectives without you having to
put too much effort into it.
Typically, when the width of a pet gate exceeds the forty-eight inch mark, it is categorized as an extra wide pet
gate. If you have decided that you will need an extra wide gate, then before making the purchase you would need to
consider your specific requirements on the basis of the type and behavioral pattern of your pet, the location where
the gate would be placed, and of course your own convenience.
As you would find in other kinds of pet gates, the two most popular variants of extra wide gates are Pressure
Mounted and Free standing. Pressure mounted gates, which are suitable for a width of 48 inch to 60 inch, are
attached to the door frame using pressure screws. On the other hand, as the name suggests, a Free Standing pet gate
does not come with any fastening mechanism. It usually just relies on its structural sturdiness and weight for
stability.
You have to be careful while selecting the type and width of the gate, because the stability of an extra wide gate
tends to reduce as its width increases. If your pet is timid and obedient, then free standing gates would be enough
to restrict it. On the other hand, if you have a stronger and more active pet, then you would want to go for either
a much heavier free standing extra wide pet gate made or metal or wood, or a pressure mounted gate.
